Russian Magazine on Kwangju Popular Uprising

Pyongyang, May 28 (KCNA) — Russia’s online magazine Lemchich on May 23 posted an article titled “Desire of Kwangju Martyrs Should Not Be Forgotten”.

It is 37 years since the uprising broke out in south Korea, but the uprisers’ wishes for independence, democracy and reunification have not yet been realized, the article said, adding:
The uprising was a just anti-U.S., anti-fascist resistance for democracy waged to oppose the U.S. imperialists’ colonial rule and demand independence and democracy of the south Korean society and national reunification.
No matter how hard the pro-American conservative group tries to distort the history, regarding the U.S., backstage manipulator of the Kwangju bloodbath, as its master, the spirit of the uprisers can never be stifled.
The pro-U.S. traitorous forces should be eliminated and the U.S. colonial rule be terminated in south Korea to satisfy the deep-rooted grudge of the Kwangju martyrs.
