Pyongyang, May 31 (KCNA) — Pyongyang Sinmun, one of the DPRK’s newspapers, marked its 60th founding anniversary.
It serves as a mass political paper speaking for the stand of the Workers’ Party of Korea (WPK) and a close company of Pyongyang citizens as it encourages them to perform feats.
President Kim Il Sung founded the Pyongyang Sinmun on June 1, Juche 46 (1957) and personally named the title of the newspaper and gave concrete instructions about its content, form and method of editing.
Leader Kim Jong Il gave meticulous guidance to the newspaper, saw to it that editing became diverse to meet its characteristics and features and highly appreciated its successful journalists.
Over the past 60 years, the Pyongyang Sinmun has developed into an authoritative medium of the country under the wise guidance and loving care of the great leaders, creditably discharging its mission to instill the Party’s revolutionary ideas into the citizens and encourage them to the implementation of the Party policies.
A meeting took place on Wednesday to mark the anniversary.
It was attended by Kim Ki Nam, vice-chairman of the C.C., WPK, and officials, journalists, editors and employees of the medium.
