Pochon, June 4 (KCNA) — Students and other young people had a torchlight procession and campfire meeting in Pochonbo on Sunday to mark the 80th anniversary of the victorious battle of Pochonbo commanded by President Kim Il Sung.
Among those present there were Pak Pong Ju, member of the Presidium of the Political Bureau of the C.C., Workers’ Party of Korea, vice-chairman of the State Affairs Commission of the DPRK and premier of the Cabinet; Kim Ki Nam, vice-chairman of the C.C., WPK; Vice Marshal of the Korean People’s Army (KPA) Ri Myong Su, chief of the General Staff of the KPA; and Choe Pu Il, minister of People’s Security.
With song “Long Live Generalissimo Kim Il Sung” being played, the participants left for Pochonbo with torches in their hands.
The playing of song “The Guerrilla March” greatly encouraged them passing through major battle sites such as the police sub-station and the subcounty office.
Senior officials of the party, state and army, officials of the party and power organs and youth league and marchers lit a fire.
A part on the battle of Pochonbo of a long epic “Mt Paektu” was recited.
After the meeting, the participants danced around the campfire to the tune of revolutionary songs.
