Pyongyang, June 5 (KCNA) — 80 years has passed since the victorious battle of Pochonbo commanded by President Kim Il Sung during the anti-Japanese armed struggle.
The battle was a significant event which instilled into the Korean people the conviction that Korea was not dead but alive and they could emerge victorious if they fought against Japanese imperialists.
Many literary works with the battle as their main theme have been created in the DPRK.
Among them is revolutionary drama “The Torch in Pochonbo”.
Early in May Juche 43 (1954), leader Kim Jong Il personally initiated the creation of the drama, wrote its script and gave energetic guidance to its creation on the occasion of the anniversary of the battle.
On the basis of a concrete plan of rehearsal, he gave detailed instructions to preparations, ranging from the whole course of drama to direction and stage properties.
The drama was successfully staged at the playground of the Pyongyang Primary School No. 4 on June 4, 1954.
Now, the drama serves as a banner and model masterpiece in creating revolutionary dramas.
