Rodong Sinmun Congratulates 8th Congress of KCU

Pyongyang, June 6 (KCNA) — Rodong Sinmun Tuesday runs an editorial in congratulation of the 8th Congress of the Korean Children’s Union (KCU).

Now all the people of the DPRK extend warm congratulations to the 8th Congress of the KCU and look forward the rosy future of Juche Korea at the bright picture of schoolchildren coming into full bloom under the warm care of the sun, the editorial says, and continues:
The proud course of the KCU is associated with the leadership exploits of President Kim Il Sung and leader Kim Jong Il who devoted their restless efforts to developing the Juche-oriented children’s movement.
The President provided a precious tradition of the Korean children’s movement in the flames of the anti-Japanese struggle and established the most popular universal free education system, the first time in the world. He saw to it that schoolchildren were provided with new school uniforms according to the season and posed for a souvenir picture with the participants in the 5th Congress of the KCU in the last period of his life, wishing their rosy future.
If one slows down one step in the work of bringing up the younger generation, the country’s advance is slow ten steps, and calculation should not be given priority to the work for schoolchildren. This was the noble intention of Kim Jong Il.
Thanks to the benevolent care of the great leaders who protected schoolchildren from rainstorm and dark clouds of war as their close teachers and tender-hearted fathers all the times, laughs and happy songs resounded forth on this land even during the periods of difficulties and ordeals and the large contingent of the heirs to the cause of the Juche revolution could grow staunchly.
The editorial calls upon all the members of the KCU to fully prepare themselves to be true sons and daughters of respected Supreme Leader Kim Jong Un and heroes of prosperous Korea, bearing in mind the glory and honor of being members of the glorious children’s union of Kim Il Sung and Kim Jong Il.
