S. Koreans Demand Peace against War

Pyongyang, June 9 (KCNA) — The Inhabitants Association for Properly Retaking U.S. Military Base in Ryongsan and the Solidarity for Democracy, People’s Life, Peaceful Reunification and Sovereignty in south Korea held a press conference outside the U.S. military base in Ryongsan of Seoul on June 7, urging the peace against war and the proper transfer of the base, according to the south Korean internet newspaper Thongil News.

Speakers at the conference said that there occurred pollution accident by the fuel leak from the base and serious is the issue on the environmental pollution that the area is polluted by benzene 162 times the tolerance limit.
Charging that the U.S. introduced two nuclear carrier strike groups to the East Sea to increase the danger of war by staging military drills, they stressed that only dialogue can defuse tension in the Korean peninsula and the U.S. should stop acts of threatening peace.
A press release, made public at the conference, demanded the U.S. stop large-scale war drills against the north at once, pull back various types of strategic assets from the Korean peninsula and halt the deployment of THAAD threatening the life and security of the nation.
