Pyongyang, June 10 (KCNA) — Rodong Sinmun Saturday carries an article on the lapse of three decades since the June Popular Resistance in south Korea.
On June 10, 1987, the south Korean people courageously rose in resistance against the pro-U.S. military fascist dictatorship violating justice and truth at the point of bayonet.
The June Popular Resistance was an eruption of the pent-up resentment and grudge toward the U.S. imperialists’ colonial domination and the military dictatorial rule and a just action that brought earlier the end of the military fascist dictatorship, the article says, adding:
Through the resistance, the south Korean people clearly showed that any violent repression by the U.S. and the military dictatorial regime backed by it could never check the struggle for justice and democracy and no force can overpower the strength of the united people.
Three decades have passed since then, but the resistance fighters’ desire for justice and democracy has not yet been realized.
History teaches that for their dream for independence, democracy and reunification to be realized, the south Korean people should not harbor any expectation and illusion about the conservative group hell-bent on sycophancy toward the U.S., fascist dictatorship and confrontation with fellow countrymen but carry on their struggle until the traitorous ruling quarters are removed totally.
The massive candlelight action that had swept across south Korea from October last year was an all-people resistance of justice to terminate the old and corrupt conservative politics and the hateful dictatorial rule disturbing independence, democracy and reunification and bring about new politics and life.
No matter how desperately the U.S. and the puppet conservative group may work, it is inevitability of history that justice defeats injustice and no one can block the south Korean people’s struggle for getting something new.
