Pyongyang, June 12 (KCNA) — A national workshop on the conservation and management of the intertidal wetlands and migratory waterbirds in the West Sea of Korea took place at the Grand People’s Study House on Monday.
Present there were officials of ministries, national institutions, scientific research institutions and related units such as the Ministry of Land and Environment Protection and the Central Committee of the Nature Conservation Union of Korea and members of the International Union for Conservation of Nature, the Partnership for the East Asian-Australasian Flyway and the Hanns Seidel Foundation of Germany.
The workshop stressed the need to boost the international cooperation in conserving the migratory birds directly linking with the existence and development of human beings. Its participants were briefed on the intertidal wetlands of the West Sea of Korea, region favorable to the habitation of the migratory birds.
