Pyongyang, June 16 (KCNA) — The DPRK delegation declared the following stand on the recent successful test-fire of the new ground-to-sea cruise rocket at a plenary meeting of the second session of the Geneva Disarmament Conference on June 13:
Our measures for bolstering up the capabilities for national defence are the exercise of the legitimate right to protect destiny and sovereignty of the nation and peace in the region in the face of the U.S. decades-long hostile policy toward the DPRK and nuclear threats and blackmail.
This is the legitimate right of a sovereign state which no one can fault.
Gone are the days never to return when the U.S. could ride roughshod over other countries with high-handed and arbitrary practices. American style bravado cajoling weak countries only can never work on the DPRK.
The U.S. should bear in mind that its military pressure and sanctions campaign would be a motive power further compelling the DPRK to bolster up its nuclear force.
The DPRK will steadily increase the capabilities for national defence including those for diversifying and highly modernizing nuclear force until the U.S. and its vassal forces come to their senses and make a proper option.
