S. Korean Women Call for Independent Reunification

Pyongyang, July 12 (KCNA) — The Women’s Solidarity of south Korea held a meeting in Seoul on July 8 on the lapse of ten years since its formation.

Members from civic and social bodies including the Confederation of Trade Unions, Federation of Peasants Associations and Women Headquarters of the South Side Committee for Implementing June 15 Joint Declaration took part in it.
Speakers at the meeting said the women’s solidarity has taken the lead in the struggle for the emancipation of women and popular masses, peace against war and for independent reunification.
The movement for reunification was faced with difficulties and ordeals due to the former conservative regime but the public candlelight actions are ushering in a new era, they said.
They called on the women to take the lead in the struggle for ushering in the era of independent reunification.
