Ministerial Meeting of ASEAN Regional Forum Held

Pyongyang, August 8 (KCNA) — The Ministerial Meeting of the ASEAN Regional Forum was held in Manilla of Phillipines on August 6-7.

Attending it were 27 delegations from countries and regions, including the DPRK delegation led by Foreign Minister Ri Yong Ho and 10 ASEAN member states.
Peace and security in the Asia-Pacific region were discussed at the meeting.
DPRK Foreign Minister Ri Yong Ho delivered a speech there.
In the speech, he clarified the principled stand that the DPRK’s access to nuclear weapons and ICBM is a just and legitimate self-defensive option to cope with the clear and real nuclear threat of the United States against the DPRK and that the DPRK would not flinch even an inch from the road chosen by itself, the road of bolstering up its nuclear force.
Meanwhile, Ri Yong Ho met with foreign ministers of several countries including China, Russia and Philippines and exchanged views on bilateral relations and important international issues.
In the meetings he emphasized that the DPRK categorically rejected the new “sanctions resolution” against it adopted by the UN Security Council, a product of nefarious plot to isolate and stifle the DPRK, and would in the future, too, march straight forward to the end on the road chosen by itself without the slightest deviation, under the uplifted banner of the line of simultaneously developing the two fronts which is the lasting banner of safeguarding peace.
