Pyongyang, August 21 (KCNA) — The Committee of Measures against the Distortion of History of the May 18 Popular Uprising reportedly held a press conference at the Kwangju City Office on Aug. 16, urging a probe into the truth behind the massacre of participants in the Kwanju Uprising and punishment of the chief culprit.
Speakers welcomed the fact that a court made a ban on the publication and distribution of Chun Doo Hwan’s “reminiscences” and made a decision about compensation.
They said that this judgment serves a warning to the forces trying to distort the May 18 movement for democratization.
They demanded Chun Doo Hwan acknowledge the responsibility for the massacre of civilians and make an apology before history and people.
