Pyongyang, August 30 (KCNA) — DPRK players bagged 23 medals at the 29th Summer Universiad including 12 gold medals. In 2003, they won 13 medals.
In particular, weightlifters grabbed 7 gold medals.
Kim Kuk Hyang secured the first place at the women’s 10 meter platform diving, the 10 meter synchro platform diving and the 10 meters mixed synchro platform diving and Ri Hyon Ju finished first at the men’s 10 meter platform diving.
The news delighted the people.
Ri Yong Hui, mother of Rim Jong Sim and Rim Un Sim who snatched gold medals at the 75 kg and 63 kg categories of women’s weightlifting event, in an interview with KCNA, said that she is proud of having good daughters and expressed her heartfelt thanks to the motherland.
Mun Kang Sun, a weaver of the Pyongyang Kim Jong Suk Textile Mill who carried out the work equivalent to her three year’s assignments, said that the news is encouraging the workers of the mill to an increased production. She noted that she would frustrate the heinous sanctions and pressure of the U.S. imperialists and their hostile forces and continue to take the lead in the drive for improving the people’s living standard under the uplifted banner of self-reliance.
