Pyongyang, October 8 (KCNA) — “We Will Hold Our General in High Esteem Forever”, the evening gala of working people, youth and students of Pyongyang, took place at Kim Il Sung Square on Sunday, the 20th anniversary of leader Kim Jong Il’s election as general secretary of the Workers’ Party of Korea (WPK).
Among the audience were Kim Yong Nam, member of the Presidium of the Political Bureau of the WPK Central Committee and president of the Presidium of the Supreme People’s Assembly of the DPRK; Choe Ryong Hae, member of the Presidium of the Political Bureau of the WPK Central Committee and vice-chairman of the State Affairs Commission of the DPRK and vice-chairman of the WPK Central Committee; Pak Pong Ju, member of the Presidium of the Political Bureau of the WPK Central Committee and vice-chairman of the State Affairs Commission of the DPRK and premier of the Cabinet; Vice Marshal of the Korean People’s Army (KPA) Hwang Pyong So, member of the Presidium of the Political Bureau of the WPK Central Committee, vice-chairman of the State Affairs Commission of the DPRK and director of the General Political Bureau of the KPA; and other senior party and state officials, officials of party, armed forces, power bodies, working people’s organizations, ministries and national institutions, officers and men of the KPA and the Korean People’s Internal Security Forces, officials of institutions and industrial enterprises in the city and people of meritorious service.
Invited there were overseas Koreans, foreign diplomatic envoys and representatives of international organizations, members of the military attaches corps here and their spouses and foreign guests.
Working people in various circles and students and youths danced to the tunes of songs “Greeting the Sun Rising over the Taedong River”, the immortal masterpiece, and “Our General Is the Best”.
Song “Party Is Care of the General” and “Fortune of Korea” resounded forth and then cheerful circle dances were presented.
The performers who took the stage sang of the flower garden of socialism blooming day by day in songs “People’s Country” and “Sea of Apples at Foot of Chol Pass”.
Numbers included decorative tassels, rhythmic gymnastics and acrobatic pieces.
Youngsters presented the beautiful sea of dancers full of boundless pride and self-confidence leading a worthwhile life, being blessed with the illustrious leaders and the party generation after generation.
