Coal Output Increases in DPRK

Pyongyang, October 19 (KCNA) — Collieries in the western area of the DPRK are concentrating their efforts on coal production.

As of mid-October, more than 30 cutting faces with big capacity were newly provided to increase coal production.
The capital tunneling, preparatory tunneling and slope tunneling were carried out at 101-212 percent.
The Pukchang Area Youth Coal Mining Complex has topped its daily plan by introducing an advanced blasting method.
Collieries in the Sunchon Area Youth Coal Mining Complex provided nine cutting faces and are enhancing tunneling speed with continuous drilling and blasting.
The Tukjang Area Coal Mining Complex also provided five cutting faces.
Meanwhile, collieries in Tokchon and Kaechon areas are introducing advanced mining methods suited to coal beds, raising the rate of mechanization, thus carrying out their daily assignments at 101 and 103 percent.
