Moscow, December 7 (KCNA) — Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov rejected Japan’s scenario to hasten the militarization in the region, when interviewed after the recent talks with his Japanese counterpart.
He expressed serious concern over the Japanese decision to allow the building of a U.S. military base in the Japanese territory under the pretext of coping with the DPRK’s “nuclear threat”.
Particularly, he expressed deep apprehension over the fact that Japan is helping the U.S. use the region as a territory for deploying elements of its global missile defense system and backing it.
He stressed that Russia regards the expansion of the U.S. missile defense system in the territories of neighboring countries including Japan as a dangerous act.
