Pyongyang, January 15 (KCNA) — A meeting took place at the Central Youth Hall Monday to mark the 90th anniversary of the launch of the paper Saenal (New Day) by President Kim Il Sung.
Attending it were Choe Hwi, vice-chairman of the Central Committee of the Workers’ Party of Korea (WPK), and Pak Chol Min, first secretary of the Central Committee of the Youth League.
Choe Hwi said in his report that in the 1920s Kim Il Sung formed the Down-with-Imperialism Union (DIU) and organized revolutionary organizations consisting of young people and children and other people from all walks of life and led the work to found the revolutionary paper, well aware of the importance of publications.
Thanks to his efforts and leadership, the first revolutionary paper whose title is Saenal was founded on Jan. 15, Juche 17 (1928), the reporter noted, adding:
The President launched a lot of revolutionary publications on the basis of his experience in the founding of Saenal and in this course provided the revolutionary tradition of the Workers’ Party of Korea on media.
The Juche-based tradition was carried forward by leader Kim Jong Il.
The history of publications of the WPK, along with Saenal, is a history of leadership and love of the peerlessly great persons and a proud history in which the publications have served as an ideological weapon ensuring the idea and guidance of the leader and as a treasured sword of revolution giving full play to the mental strength of the army and people.
The reporter called for adding luster to the honor of being the ideological vanguard and the first death-defying corps of the WPK in the general onward movement for a fresh victory of revolution under the guidance of respected Supreme Leader Kim Jong Un, wielding the writing brush of the revolution.
