Pyongyang, January 15 (KCNA) — The Kilju Fruit Farm in the DPRK has achieved success in fruit farming by making effective use of natural zeolite.
The natural zeolite, strong in adsorbing nutritive components, contains silicon, magnesium, potassium and other various microelements.
According to Sin Kwang Sok, chief engineer of the farm, it has improved the growth of fruit trees and raised per-hectare yield by using natural zeolite as feed additive, together with fertilizer, from several years ago.
The natural zeolite was also used on trial in exterminating blights.
It shortened the time of killing insects and lowered the rate of disease’s outbreak.
It helps raise water holding capacity of soil, thus ensuring humidity appropriate to fruit production.
The farm set the production of quality organic fertilizer based on natural zeolite as the goal of this year’s first campaign.
It is scrupulously organizing the work for securing necessary amount of natural zeolite, while giving priority to study of science and technology.
