Pyongyang, January 17 (KCNA) — The honorary chairman of the Association for Supporting Prisoners of Conscience of the Family Movement for Realizing Democracy in south Korea held a press conference on Jan. 12 at which he urged the authorities to adhere to the principle of By Our Nation Itself in mending the north-south relations, according to the south Korean internet paper Jaju Sibo.
He said that he was disappointed at the remarks of the “president” that he would settle the national issue with cooperation and alliance with the U.S., not with the north which took a bold measure while expressing its stand to take part in the Winter Olympics.
All the military drills and the protracted nuclear threat of the U.S. against the north are violation of the UN Charter, he said, adding that the U.S. listing of the DPRK as the target of the nuclear preemptive strike became the factor that made the DPRK have access to the self-defensive nuclear deterrent.
He noted that the issue of south-north relations should be solved on the principle of By Our Nation Itself and so the authorities should abolish institutional and legal barriers such as repeal of the “Security Law”.
