Pyongyang, February 5 (KCNA) — State academic degrees and titles were conferred on intellectuals in the DPRK with due ceremony at the People’s Palace of Culture on Monday ahead of the birth anniversary of leader Kim Jong Il.
The intellectuals made signal contributions to the economic development of the country and the improvement of the people’s standard of living by achieving many successes in the struggle to solve all problems arising in the building of a powerful socialist country by dint of science and technology.
The title of academician went to Ri Sung Ik, a researcher at Pyongyang Medical College of Kim Il Sung University, and the title of candidate academician to teachers Ri Myong Il and Ho Tal Yun and researcher Sin Thae Gyong of Kim Il Sung University, Pak Man Song, a researcher at the Farm Machine Institute of the Ministry of Agriculture, and others.
Professorship was conferred on department heads Won Chol Guk and Ri Tong Yun, teacher Ro Sung Il and section chief Ri Song Ho of Kim Il Sung University, deans of faculties Han Hyon Il and Pak Ki Chang and Director of an institute Paek Un Yong of Kim Chaek University of Technology, Kim Sok Bong, head of a department of Pyongyang University of Architecture, Kim Hye Gwon, vice-rector of Korea University of Physical Education, O Yu Song, section chief of the State Academy of Sciences, Mun Jong Ji, vice-rector of College of Education No. 2 of Phyongbuk University, and Won Ye Yon, a teacher of Hamhung University of Chemical Engineering.
Doctorate went to Kum Chol Ryong and Ri Hyok Chol, department heads of Kim Il Sung University, Ra Jin Myong, an academic adviser to Pyongyang Medical College of Kim Il Sung University, Ra Yong Chol and Hyon Pyol I, department heads of Kim Chaek University of Technology, Kim Pyong Uk, a teacher of Pyongyang University of Foreign Studies, and others, associate professorship to 160 persons and master’s degree to 1,082 persons.
