23rd Paektusan Prize Sports Contest among Officials of National Institutions Closes

Pyongyang, February 13 (KCNA) — The 23rd Paektusan Prize Sports Contest among Officials of National Institutions, which began on Jan. 22, closed with due ceremony at the Basketball Gymnasium in Chongchun Street on Feb. 13.

The players competed, divided into four groups.
Teams of the State Planning Commission, the State Science and Technology Commission, the Taesong Bank and the Sci-Tech Complex came first in the tug of war.
Teams of the Ministry of Railways, the General Bureau of Public Catering Service, the Taesong Guidance Bureau and the Mansudae Art Studio won in the men’s basketball matches.
Teams of the Ministry of Land and Environment Protection, the Education Commission, the Unha Guidance Bureau and the Sci-Tech Complex came first in the men’s volleyball matches, teams of the Ministry of Mining Industry, the Foreign Trade Bank, the Myohyang Guidance Bureau and the Korean Revolution Museum in the women’s volleyball matches, teams of the State Planning Commission, the General Bureau of Public Catering Service, the Taesong Bank and the Foreign Languages Publishing House in Taekwon-do matches and teams of the Ministry of Posts and Telecommunications, the General Bureau of Public Catering Service, the Taesong Bank and the Sci-Tech Complex in shooting matches.
Coming top in the group standings were teams of the State Planning Commission, the General Bureau of Public Catering Service, the Taesong Bank and the Sci-Tech Complex.
Present at the closing ceremony were Choe Hwi, vice-chairman of the Central Committee of the Workers’ Party of Korea who is chairman of the National Sports Guidance Committee, Ro Tu Chol, vice-premier and chairman of the State Planning Commission who is vice-chairman of the National Sports Guidance Committee, and officials concerned and officials and players of ministries and national institutions.
