Pyongyang, February 20 (KCNA) — The 22nd Kimjongilia Festival for Celebrating the Day of the Shining Star closed with due ceremony at the Kimilsungia-Kimjongilia Exhibition on Tuesday.
The festival venue drew more than 430,000 people, including officials of party, armed forces and power bodies, working people’s organizations, ministries and national institutions, servicepersons, citizens of different social standings, school youth and children, overseas compatriots and foreigners.
On the Day of the Shining Star alone, the festival venue was visited by officials and working people of at least 200 units including Kim Il Sung University, Mangyongdae Revolutionary School and the Ministry of Agriculture.
Present at the closing ceremony were Pak Kwang Ho, vice-chairman of the Central Committee of the Workers’ Party of Korea; Yang Hyong Sop, vice-president of the Presidium of the Supreme People’s Assembly; Jon Kwang Ho, vice-premier of the Cabinet; and officials of the festival organizing committee and the units which presented flowers of the sun to the festival, and working people and school youth and children in the city.
Also attending it were the congratulatory group of Koreans in Japan for celebrating the Day of Shining Star and other overseas compatriots and members of the association for disseminating and supporting the immortal flower.
Certificates of the festival prize were awarded to many units, officials, cultivators and individuals, the Central Standing Committee of the General Association of Korean Residents in Japan and overseas compatriots and foreigners.
The participation certificates were also conferred on the units, working people and school youth and children who presented the flowers to the festival.
Kim Chang Do, chairman of the Korea Kimilsungia-Kimjongilia Committee, made a closing address.
