S. Korean Conservatives’ Bid to Come Back to Power Denounced

Pyongyang, February 26 (KCNA) — Now the atmosphere of improved inter-Korean relations prevails on the Korean Peninsula thanks to the DPRK’s proactive and sincere efforts and the expectation and interest of south Korean people are towering as the days go by. Whereas, the conservatives in south Korea, including the “Liberal Korea Party”, are trembling with fear.

In this regard, Rodong Sinmun says in an article Monday:
The south Korean conservatives, obsessed with fear that they would totally be defeated, make desperate efforts to win the mindset of people who turned their backs on them, vociferating about “nuclear threats” from the DPRK, “strengthened alliance” with the U.S. and “mega-merger of conservatives”.
The reality shows that while disturbing the improvement of the north-south relations in every way, they leave no means untried to take the initiative in political situation and rally the conservatives and thus lay a springboard for coming back to power in the elections for local governing bodies due in June.
For this sinister purpose they add to the atmosphere for confrontation between fellow countrymen in the society of south Korea, talking about “nuclear threats” from the DPRK and building up public opinion that their only way is to strengthen the “alliance” with the U.S. in an attempt to justify their sycophantic treacheries. And they try to put down the demand of the south Korean people for removing evils, talking about “renovation” and “new conservatism”, and seek “mega-merger of conservatives.”
No matter how desperately the south Korean conservatives may try to go against the trend of the times, they can never save their declined destiny, and the destruction of conservatism is a matter of time.
