Pyongyang, June 21 (KCNA) — Kim Song I of the DPRK again won a gold medal in the women’s single of the 2018 ITTF Challenge Pyongyang Open.
She defeated her rivals 4:0, 4:0, 4:1 and 4:2 in four knockout matches, thus winning two consecutive victories.
She bagged gold medals in the women’s singles of the 2012 ITTF Euro-Africa Circuit, Swedish Open and the 2016 ITTF World Tour Pyongyang Open.
In particular, she won a bronze medal at the 31st Olympic Games, defeating her Japanese rivals one after another with quick cut and powerful counterattack.
She was selected as one of the ten best players of the DPRK for 2016 and nominated as one of candidates for the ITTF woman table tennis star awardee for 2016.
She is now active at the Amnokgang Sports Team which has produced ace paddlers like Pak Yong Ok, Ri Pun Hui and Kim Hyang Mi.
